Signs for Success teachers

Classroom assistants welcomed the introduction of Signs for Success into their schools. Signing gives them a specific role in the classroom, as well as pride of place. Assistants find they have a deeper significance within the curriculum.

 

Signing changes the way teachers and classroom assistants work together. They become a unified force with a clear aim as they raise children’s levels of reading, writing and spelling.

 

Signs for Success:

 

  • Provides classroom assistants with a concrete, more equalizing, role in the classroom.
  • Classroom assistants can remind children of appropriate behaviour by using a sign that does not disturb the flow of the teacher’s instructions.
  • Gives classroom assistants rightful importance for the part they play in curriculum development.
  • Encourages communication between classroom assistants and children.
  • Raises the skill level of classroom assistants.
  • Offers a vehicle for classroom assistants to gain children’s respect and acceptance as teaching instructors.

Classroom assistants have a huge role to play in the spread of Signs for Success methodology and practice.
