Schools have been transformed by the introduction of the Signs for Success programme.
Signs for Success:
- Assists staff development through the acquisition of another skill.
- Informs and adds to the curriculum, allowing pupils the opportunity to "see" concepts
through sign.
- Helps schools reach standardised attainment targets.
- Encourages staff cohesiveness.
- Provides classroom assistants with a specific role.
- Actively promotes the ethos of inclusion.
- Modifies children’s behaviour and instils an atmosphere of learning.
- Raises Deaf awareness amongst staff and children.
- Provides an opportunity to "pull in" hard-to-reach parents.
- Offers something extra, special and different to teachers, children and parents.
